Universal orifice plates are fixed geometry devices used for flow measurement, pressure restriction and choked/critical flow. They are extremely reliable as they have no moving parts and use differential pressure measurement to determine flow. They are designed for use in orifice fittings where custody transfer and minimal downtime are critical. AVCO carries a full range of universal orifice plates which are precision machined to meet the stringent requirements of ASME MFC-3M, AGA 3 and ISO 5167-2 and are available in sizes from 1/2” thru 36”. Various plate styles are available including: standard concentric, counterbore, eccentric, quadrant bored and segmental orifice plates to cover all types of fluid flow. Vent or drain holes can be added to these plates, but great care must be taken to ensure correct orientation when placed in the fitting – this also applies to eccentric orifice plates. AVCO can also supply the sealing units for the universal orifice plates with elastomer, Teflon and metal seal units available, thus covering temperature ranges from -65°F thru 1200°F and pressure classes up to ANSI class 2500.
