They are inherently more expensive to manufacture than a standard orifice plate, but are dimensionally more stable and give longer life at the higher velocities.\u00a0 The pressure loss is similar to an orifice plate, sized for the same flow conditions, but its longevity gives a distinct advantage as downtime due to maintenance is greatly reduced.\u00a0 There are 3 main styles of flow nozzle; ASME long radius nozzle, ISA 1932 nozzle and the venturi nozzle. AVCO supplies the flow nozzles as a single item, normally flanged, or pre-installed in a flanged spool piece with pressure taps added in the correct locations.
