One of the most important criteria for accurate flow measurement is a long length of uninterrupted straight pipe run upstream of the orifice plate.\u00a0 This is required to remove swirl and create an acceptable flow profile, but with lengths required as much as 75 times the pipe bore per ASME MFC-3M & ISO 5167 or 145 times the pipe bore per AGA 3, it is often impractical and prohibitive to achieve such long lengths, especially for larger pipe sizes and installations where real estate costs are prohibitive or existing real estate is restricted.\u00a0 A flow conditioner provides a simple solution by allowing the lengths of straight pipe to be greatly reduced, while achieving the same results for flow accuracy. The most common type is the 19 Tube Bundle Flow Straightener which has its installation covered in tabulated form in ASME MFC-3M, ISO 5167 & AGA 3.\u00a0 These can be supplied as flange mounted or line mounted via set screws and are sized to suit the bore of the pipe.\u00a0 AVCO offers these tube bundles in standard forms for SCH 40 & SCH 80 pipe and can supply tube bundles for any other bore upon request.\u00a0 AVCO can also supply other flow conditioners such as the Zanker flow conditioner plate to provide a variety of solutions to your needs.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
